Transport Malta is planning to replace the postwar Tank 2 structure in Cospicua with a new development that would include 104 parking spaces and a roof garden, according to the Times of Malta.
The reported scheme matters less for its planting than for what it changes at ground level: a site built around storing water would also become a place to store cars. The reservoir below is set to be retained, while the existing boundary walls are to be restored.
That split use is the practical point. The water infrastructure is not being removed outright, but the structure above it would be rebuilt to serve a different daily pressure in the area, parking. Near a gate and within the tight grain of the Three Cities, that is a transport and streetscape decision as much as a construction one.
The Times of Malta reported the plan as Transport Malta’s proposal. The RSS summary does not state whether permits have been issued.
