That is the whole story, and it is enough. A road is supposed to move traffic; in the video it is busy holding runoff.
Lovin Malta reported that the flooding followed thunderstorms affecting much of the Maltese islands. Citing weather page It-Temp Madwarna, the outlet said storms hit around 90% of Malta, with Siġġiewi recording up to 30mm of rainfall. It also cited Maltese Islands Weather as reporting further showers, with rainfall totals varying considerably between localities.
That last detail helps. Flooding like this does not need an island-wide equal soaking to become a problem. It needs enough rain, in the wrong place, quickly enough, and the footage shows what that looks like once water starts collecting on a live road.
Lovin Malta said the unsettled conditions had raised concerns about flooding in areas vulnerable to heavy rainfall. It also noted forecasts for more showers and strong winds in the coming days, with further rain possible between Monday and Tuesday, and advised motorists to remain cautious on flood-prone roads during heavy downpours.
No injuries or official road closures were reported in the cited material. What is verified is narrower than the usual post-storm commentary, but still clear: heavy rainfall led to visible flooding on Salini Road.
