Meta has released Muse Wonder, the first model from Meta Superintelligence Labs that the company calls frontier-class, Fortune reported. The launch follows the Muse app's U.S. debut on Sept. 8, which topped 2.5 million downloads in about two weeks, according to Sensor Tower data cited by CNN.
Alexandr Wang, Meta's chief AI officer, said Muse Wonder is state-of-the-art "based on our measurement" for personal and professional agent tasks. Independent scorekeepers are more measured. On Artificial Analysis's Intelligence Index, the flagship Muse Wonder Full sits roughly level with top models from OpenAI and Anthropic but a couple of points behind the leader, according to AI Weekly.
The financial stakes are large. Meta expects 2026 capital expenditures of $130 billion to $145 billion, nearly double the $72.2 billion it spent last year. Wang said on the Cheeky Pint podcast that Meta CFO Susan Li privately warned him that failure would be "very, very bad in financial terms." That account comes from Wang and was reported by Fortune.
