Gozo Channel tickets are generally bought or validated at Mġarr, Gozo; boarding from Ċirkewwa is not a separately free trip. There is no reserved place on the Gozo Channel car ferry. Fast-ferry passengers should allow 15–20 minutes for check-in.
Valletta ↔ Gozo
Start in Valletta and arrive at Mġarr without first travelling to Ċirkewwa. The fast ferry carries passengers, not cars; later sailings vary by season and day.

Is there a ferry between Malta and Gozo at night?
Gozo Channel runs a 24-hour service between Ċirkewwa and Mġarr, subject to weather and operational conditions. That does not mean every route on this page runs overnight. Check the operator’s current timetable.
Why do I pay for the Gozo Channel ferry in Gozo?
Standard round-trip tickets are validated at Mġarr, Gozo, before the return or start journey from Gozo. Foot passengers starting in Ċirkewwa are guided onto the ferry. The journey is not “free one way”; the fare covers the round trip.
Does buying a Gozo Channel ticket reserve a place?
No. Gozo Channel states that it does not operate a reservations system; boarding is first come, first served. An online ticket does not guarantee space on a specific sailing.
What if the weather is bad?
Never infer sailing status from wind speed alone. All operators can change service for operational or weather reasons. Use the official timetable or operator notice before travelling.
