The CFTC is again probing Polymarket over U.S. access to its offshore platform, according to CNBC.
That is the news, and it is narrower than a finding of wrongdoing. CNBC reports the federal agency had previously investigated whether Polymarket allowed U.S. users onto that offshore platform in 2024, then dropped the measures in July 2025. Now the question is back.
A revived probe can say two things at once: the government has not proved its case, and the earlier lull did not settle the matter for good. For Polymarket, that is its own kind of headline.
With the source material this thin, there is no honest way to pad the story into a larger legal drama. What is supported is renewed scrutiny over the same basic issue CNBC identifies: whether U.S. users reached an offshore market they were not supposed to be using. That is enough to put Polymarket back under a regulator’s light.
