“I have a prescription” is only the first part of the question. The pharmacist also needs to establish who issued it, whether the medicine can be dispensed in Malta and whether that product is available.
EU prescriptions
The Malta Medicines Authority says a pharmacist may dispense a prescription from a doctor, dentist or veterinary surgeon in another EU member state when the professional’s licence can be verified. That is a legal route, not an automatic guarantee of supply. Controlled medicines have additional rules.
For a prescription from outside the EU, do not assume the pharmacy can fill it directly. Contact a pharmacy in advance with the medicine’s active ingredient, strength and form, and ask what documentation or local clinical review is needed.
