Malta’s official guidelines for travellers say that people entering or leaving Malta with medicines for personal use should carry a medical prescription or certificate from a registered practitioner covering their stay. Keep the medication clearly identifiable and bring the documentation where you can show it if asked.
For narcotic or psychotropic substances, the authority says a Schengen medical certificate may also be appropriate when the journey involves a Schengen state. These products need extra checking; contact the relevant authority or your prescriber before departure rather than assuming an ordinary prescription is sufficient.
