In Malta, a pharmacy is often more than a medicine counter. Some host private doctors for consultations or prescriptions. But a sign saying “pharmacy” does not mean a GP is there whenever the shop is open.
Call before you go
Ask the pharmacy four things: Is a GP attending today? Do I need an appointment? What is the consultation fee? Can the doctor assess the issue I am bringing? You can find local pharmacies in the FreeMalta directory. Its listing is a starting point, not a live GP timetable.

The alternative is Malta’s public health-centre GP service or, for suitable follow-up issues, a GP appointment clinic. Check access and opening hours before travelling. Outside normal hours, see the after-hours guide; a pharmacy consultation and urgent medical care are not the same thing.
