FreeMalta Health · A personal decision

You’ve been
thinking about it.
Start with a conversation.

Not a new person. Not a perfect life.
Just something you’d like to feel more comfortable with.

Considering a hair transplant in Istanbul while living in Malta? There is no need to decide today. Let’s make the questions a little clearer first.

Before you book

01 · Understand the decision

More than a before-and-after.

A photograph can begin your research. It cannot finish it.

A

What is a hair transplant?

It moves hair follicles from a donor area to a thinning or bald area. FUE removes individual grafts; ask the treating clinician which approach fits your situation. [1]

B

Is it right for me?

Not every type of hair loss is suitable. A qualified clinician should assess the cause, donor area and alternatives before recommending surgery. [1]

C

What happens afterwards?

Recovery and visible results are different timelines. The NHS describes full results at around 10–18 months. Follow your own clinician’s instructions, not someone else’s routine. [1]

A good question is not an awkward question.

Ask who performs each stage, what qualifications they hold and who is responsible for medical care. Discuss bleeding, infection, scarring and the possibility of an unsatisfactory result. [1]

No surgery is risk-free. For treatment abroad, clarify follow-up, complications, insurance and travel arrangements before paying. [2]

02 · Think beyond the appointment

Istanbul is the destination.
Your care is the decision.

You may already have Turkey in mind. But a country name, a hotel package or a familiar Instagram account is not enough to choose the team treating you.

Compare the actual people, the facility and the written plan. If an answer is vague, ask again.

Before you book a flight

  • Get the treating clinician’s name, qualifications and the treatment facility’s registration details.
  • Request a written plan explaining responsibilities and what happens if the assessment changes.
  • Ask when you can travel home and who can help once you are back in Malta.
  • Separate the treatment quote from transport, accommodation and follow-up arrangements.

Travel and aftercare questions informed by NHS guidance on cosmetic surgery abroad. UK registration rules are not presented as Turkish rules. [2]

And the cost?

No headline price here. Ask for an individual written quotation: the proposed procedure, the team, what is included, what is excluded and any extra aftercare or return-visit costs. A useful quote explains the care, not just the total.

03 · From outside the clinic’s website

Patient-reported experience · 2024

One person.
One day.
Not the whole story.

Read the original Reddit discussion

A Reddit user describes having a hair transplant at The Hair on 27 April 2024. They report that Ahmet Tosun planned the hairline and performed the channel-opening stage, with other team members handling extraction and implantation.

The writer speaks positively about communication and the team’s attention. The discussion also includes questions and criticism about the hairline design. That makes it useful reading—not a polished testimonial with every difficult question removed.

What this does—and does not—tell you

The original account was written eight days after the procedure. It describes an early experience, not a verified long-term outcome. Identity, clinical details and eventual results have not been independently verified by FreeMalta.

Summary in our own words. No patient photographs reproduced; no medical advice adopted from the comments.

04 · Featured clinic introduction

Meet The Hair.
Ask Ahmet’s team.

The Hair / Ahmet Tosun’s website lists FUE, DHI, women’s hair transplantation and beard transplantation. It describes Ahmet as a hair-transplant consultant and states more than 15 years of experience. These are the provider’s own descriptions. [3]

The website lists its contact address in Ataşehir, Istanbul. Confirm the actual treatment location, responsible physician and team credentials directly before booking.

This is a promotional introduction selected by FreeMalta, not an independent clinical endorsement. We have not independently verified professional credentials or treatment outcomes.

A question. Not a commitment.

You don’t need
the right words.

Tell the team what you are considering. Ask for the medical and practical details. Give yourself time to decide.
