“Out of stock” may mean that one pharmacy lacks your brand, not that no suitable product exists in Malta. The useful next question is the medicine’s active ingredient, strength and pharmaceutical form.
Ask the right question before visiting another counter
Take the box or prescription details to a pharmacist and ask whether the same product can be obtained or whether a suitable alternative is available. The Malta Medicines Authority’s medicine search lists authorised products; it does not show live pharmacy stock. The Authority advises patients to discuss available alternatives with their doctor or pharmacist.
If a change of treatment, strength or dose may be required, speak to the prescriber. That matters especially for ongoing treatment: make contact before you run out, rather than trying to solve the problem with the final tablet in hand.
