Typhoon Bavi is moving toward Taiwan and south-eastern China after landslides triggered by the storm killed at least 15 people in the Philippines, according to BBC News. The system spans roughly 1,000 kilometres and is forecast to be among the strongest storms to strike the region in decades.

Meteorologists tracking Bavi's trajectory have placed coastal communities across south-eastern China and Taiwan on high alert, with evacuation orders already in effect in several low-lying areas.
