Careers / Hiring / The conversation before the CV

Careers have context.
Hiring should too.

You have done more than your job title suggests. Somewhere, a company needs exactly that experience—but the two of you are busy looking in different places. Jack & Jill puts an AI agent on each side of the conversation, with a direct introduction when there is mutual interest.

01 / Why another hiring tool deserves a look

The CV has your history.
The conversation has your direction.

You can tailor another application. You can search under a slightly different title. You can even become very good at refreshing a page that has nothing new to tell you. The missing piece is often more specific: what you can do, what you want next, and who genuinely needs both.

Jack / The candidate side

What would make a move worthwhile?

Jack builds career context through conversation and helps surface opportunities. The interesting part is the combination of discovery and personal preferences—not simply rewriting a CV with AI.

Jill / The company side

What would make this person right?

Jill turns a hiring need into a brief and searches for candidates against it. The employer can refine the criteria rather than keep receiving versions of the same unhelpful shortlist.

Source context: Jack product overview and Jill’s Hiring Brief documentation. The interpretation is FreeMalta editorial analysis.

“Open to work” is a status.
What you want from work takes a conversation.

02 / For candidates

Your next move deserves
more than another tab.

Perhaps you are actively looking. Perhaps you are employed and quietly wondering whether the next chapter should feel different. Start with that distinction. A more impressive title is not much of a prize if it delivers the same problem in a better font.

Discover

Tell Jack what the CV leaves out.

Discuss your experience, preferred work and constraints. Jack looks for roles and brings suggestions back to you. Be explicit about location, seniority and the work you want to stop doing as well as start.

Prepare

Practise before the real interview.

Jack offers voice-based mock interviews tailored to a role, with feedback on your answers. Use the rehearsal to make your own evidence clearer; a fluent answer should still be a true one.

Negotiate

Know the question behind the number.

Salary benchmarking and negotiation practice help you prepare a compensation conversation. Ask about base pay, bonus, equity and location assumptions. A benchmark is context, not a promise of what an employer will pay.

Decide

Keep your own judgement.

A role can look excellent and still be wrong for your life. Check the manager, working pattern, expectations and actual offer. You are allowed to decline something that looks good on paper.

Candidate access

Free to explore.
Your decision to move.

Jack is currently free for candidates. Begin with a conversation; judge the relevance of what comes back, not the enthusiasm of the first screen.

03 / For founders and hiring teams

More applicants is easy.
A useful conversation is harder.

You need someone who can do a particular piece of work. Then the job description acquires twelve requirements, three personality traits and a passing resemblance to the entire leadership team. Before sourcing faster, decide which part of that person you actually need.

Brief the work, not the ideal CV.

Jill combines your description, company context and follow-up questions into a hiring brief. Separate essential evidence from preferences. Include compensation, location and sponsorship constraints early.

Calibrate against real profiles.

Review Jill’s candidates and explain why someone fits or misses. Her discovery documentation describes role-specific criteria and ongoing search, including Jack’s network and a Public Profiles option.

Make the opportunity worth meeting.

Prepare the candidate-facing pitch. Explain the work, the team and why this hire matters now. Jill’s internal brief and the pitch candidates receive are different documents.

Request a mutual introduction.

For the documented Jack–Jill flow, the company requests an introduction and the candidate chooses whether to accept. Contact details are shared after both agree. Your team then runs the hiring process.

04 / Where it fits in the hiring stack

A different route to a meeting.
Keep the parts that still work.

Alongside a job board.

Job boards let you advertise and search. Jack & Jill’s agent-led approach adds a route built around career context and hiring intent. Test whether it produces conversations you were not getting through your existing channels.

Alongside your ATS.

Jill documents an Ashby integration with one-way candidate and pipeline updates into the ATS. That is a useful distinction: direct introductions can reduce the application detour without making employer records or interviews disappear.

Alongside human recruiters.

A specialist recruiter may bring judgement, trusted relationships and market knowledge. Compare the quality of introductions and total effort for your role. “AI” is a method, not a universal winning argument.

Before HR and payroll.

Finding someone and employing them are separate jobs. Contracts, classification, work permission, onboarding and payroll still need a responsible owner. Jill is not an employer-of-record service.

05 / The business model

Know who pays.
Then read the terms.

Candidate
$0Current candidate access

Career support without a candidate bill.

The company says employers fund successful hiring introductions. It is still worth asking what makes an opportunity suitable for you and how your professional information is used.

Employer
10%Publicly advertised success fee / first-year salary

Price the hire, not just the search.

The pricing page lists a success-based fee, without upfront fees, retainers or subscriptions. Its product FAQs defer exact fees and refund arrangements to your commercial agreement. Confirm those terms before proceeding.

For the employer: establish the salary basis, payment trigger, taxes, contractor terms, candidate ownership and any refund conditions in writing. The public pricing page advertises a three-month refund window; your signed agreement is the place to confirm eligibility and procedure.

06 / Why we are paying attention

AI is changing the conversation.
It should make it more useful.

Automating more applications and automating more screening can leave both sides beautifully busy and no closer to a decision. Our interest in Jack & Jill is the attempt to improve the introduction itself: understand the person, understand the role, then connect them.

Could this take over part of traditional recruitment? We think it could, particularly in discovery and coordination. That is an editorial view, not a five-year forecast. Trust, evidence and responsibility still have to survive the handover.

Series A

Backing for the two-sided idea.

Jack & Jill announced a $40 million Series A led by Air Street Capital, with Creandum and Madrona participating. Funding gives the company room to build; it does not prove that the next role or hire will be right for you.

07 / Before the first conversation

Bring a clear brief.
Keep sensible boundaries.

If you are the candidate.

Bring a current CV or profile, a few concrete examples and your practical limits. Read the visibility settings before sharing sensitive details. The privacy policy says Jack voice calls are recorded and transcribed; recordings and transcripts are not shared with prospective employers.

If you are the employer.

Start with one real role and a named decision-maker. Define success, budget and non-negotiable constraints. Measure qualified introductions, interview progression, elapsed time and eventual fit—not the number of profiles shown.

A Malta-specific check: confirm relevant roles or candidate supply before relying on the service. Jill’s FAQs say its network is strongest in London, San Francisco and New York. Remote work does not, by itself, settle location eligibility or work permission.

Questions people ask

Before the next introduction.

Is Jack free for candidates?

Yes. Jack & Jill currently lists Jack as free for candidates. Employer fees fund the hiring side. Free access does not guarantee an introduction, interview or offer.

What makes Jack & Jill different from a job board?

The platform puts a career agent on the candidate side and a recruiting agent on the employer side. The aim is to connect professional context with a specific hiring need, rather than leave both parties to search through applications.

Does it replace an ATS?

No automatic replacement should be assumed. Jill documents an Ashby integration that pushes candidate and pipeline updates into the ATS. Sourcing and introductions can sit alongside the employer’s existing interview and record-keeping process.

What does Jill cost?

The public pricing page reviewed on 3 October 2026 advertises 10% of first-year salary on a successful hire. Current product FAQs defer fees, contractor terms and refunds to the commercial agreement. Confirm the signed scope before requesting introductions.

Can I use it from Malta?

Confirm that the roles or candidate supply cover your location and requirements. Jill’s documentation identifies London, San Francisco and New York as its strongest markets. A remote role is not automatically available from every country.

Can my current employer see my profile?

Review the current privacy policy and account visibility settings before sharing information. The policy describes Open, Selective and Hidden modes; Hidden removes a profile from new searches, while existing conversations may continue. Do not assume blanket confidentiality.

Will AI make recruiters unnecessary?

It may change where recruiters spend their time. Faster discovery and coordination still leave people to assess evidence, negotiate expectations and make hiring decisions. We see Jack & Jill as a different introduction model, not proof that every recruiter or recruiting system is obsolete.

Does a match mean I will get the job?

No. Mutual interest can start a conversation. Interviews, suitability, references, work authorisation, compensation and the employer’s final decision still matter. Treat an introduction as access to a process, not the outcome of it.

One platform / Two sides of the conversation

Meet the other side
of your next chapter.

If you are looking, start with Jack. If you are hiring, start with Jill. Bring a real question and see whether the introduction is better than the route you have been taking.
