   The question

   Why is the useful stuff so hard to find?

   Malta had no shortage of opinions. What I couldn't find were straight, practical answers in one place. Salary ranges without the guessing game. Costs that reflected daily life, not a holiday. Information you could use before making a decision.

2. 02
   The spark

   Then Reddit found it.

   I put the work out there. A post took off on Reddit, and people came with more questions. The interesting part wasn't that it went viral. It was what happened next: people wanted the answers to keep coming.

   The build

   Every answer opened another door.

   Salaries led to jobs and living costs. Living costs led to property, taxes and permits. Daily questions led to ferry times and pharmacies. The Rabbit Hole kept growing. So did the Know-How library.

   I wasn't following a grand master plan. I was following the next question worth answering.

   Today

   Small idea. Rather large footprint.

   FreeMalta began with one island. In the past 90 days, people have found it from 180 countries—and roughly 27% of its audience is still in Malta. Around 8,000 pages are indexed by Google. With News Beast publishing every day, the library is on course to pass 20,000 pages within a year. Not a single ad bought that reach.
